Abstract:"Objective: Catechol-O-methyltransferease (COMT) metabolizes prefrontal cortex dopamine (DA), a neurotransmitter involved in executive behavior; the Val158Met genotype has been linked to executive dysfunction, which might increase risky sexual behaviors favoring HIV transmission. We examined the influence of COMT genotype and executive functioning on sexual risk behavior among participants with or without HIV infection and methamphetamine dependence (METH+); both, conditions linked to DA disturbance and risk behavior.
