Abstract:Summary and Implications Increases in abnormal white matter and volume of subcortical gray were associated with extent of CD4 recovery on virally suppressive CART. MR changes were associated with contemporaneous rises in CD4, but not with past CD4 change (from nadir) or current CD4 level (visit 1). MR changes were more strongly linked to interval rises in CD4 than to changes in viral load. Inflammation (inflammatory cell infiltration, strogliosis) provides a parsimonious explanation for the MR changes seen.
