Abstract:Conclusions In southern Brazil, HIV+ individuals are significantly more likely to be neurocognitively impaired than HIV-, as in the U.S., Europe, and many other international settings When clade B and C-infected individuals from the same geographic region are compared using the same ascertainment methods, rates of neurocognitive impairment do not differ significantly Use of the IHDS as a screening instrument detects only about half of those who are impaired by a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment.
