Abstract:Conclusions Individuals with HIV performed more poorly on two aspects of ToM relative to seronegative participants, despite comparable performance on control items (e.g., non-social reasoning). These findings support the hypothesis that individuals with HIV may be at risk for social cognitive deficits, which may be relevant to risky decision-making. Future studies may identify the relationship between these ToM measures, other aspects of neurocognition, and real-world risk behaviors that are relevant to HIV transmission.
