Abstract:Despite the importance of utilizing tests with alternate forms, the majority of neuropsychologists do not use such measures frequently perhaps due to the difficulty and cost associated with their development. Certain practice demographics may predict use of tests with alternate/parallel forms. These include patient population (e.g., work with older adults) and years practicing (e.g., younger neuropsychologists report more frequent use). Future research should investigate the relative benefits of various methods used to ameliorate practice effects in specific clinical populations and factors that impact decision making by researchers and clinicians.
