Publication Abstract Display | Type: Poster | Title: Patient-report vs objective measures in predicting everyday functioning
outcomes in HIV+ adults. | Authors: Heaton A, Moore R, Poalillo E, Rooney A, Jeste D, Moore D | Date: 03-29-2017 | Abstract:Conclusions:
Functional disability among HIV+ adults is still not well
understood and is likely multifactorial in nature. This study supports the POMS as a brief screening tool for
functional dependence among adults living with HIV, suggesting
that self-appraisals of cognitive problems may help identify
daily functioning impairments in this population. NP performance was related to cognitive capacity as measured
by the UPSA-B, suggesting the UPSA-B as a potential brief
screen for neurocognitive impairment in HIV+ adults. We cannot rule out self-report biases (complaints predict
complaints), so external confirmation of everyday functional
status would provide important verification. |
