Abstract:"Global neuropsychological (NP) impairment is related to neurodegeneration (ND) observed postmortem in the midfrontal cortex of HIV-infected individuals. The current study assessed the utility of NP testing in identifying HIV-related ND in additional brain regions. Postmortem tissue sections from three brain regions of interest (midfrontal cortex, hippocampus, and putamen) were examined in 28 HIV-infected individuals with antemortem.
