Publication Abstract Display | Type: Published Abstract | Title: HIV-associated deficits in action (verb) fluency reflect astrocytosis. | Authors: Iudicello JE, Letendre SL, Carey CL, Dawson MS, Durelle J, Grant I, Woods SP | Year: 2008 | Publication: Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society | Volume: 14 Issue: Suppl S1 Pages: 146 | Abstract:Action (verb) fluency is a novel measure of verbal fluency
whose development was inspired by the double dissociation between the
neural systems involved in retrieving verbs (i.e., frontostriatal) and nouns
(i.e., temporoparietal). We previously reported selective action fluency
deficits in HIV, which are incrementally predictive of dependence in
daily functioning. Here, we explore whether action fluency deficits are
related to biomarkers reflecting different aspects of HIV neuropatho-
genesis, including viral burden, neuroaxonal damage, macrophage ac-
tivation, neuroprotectants, inflammation, and astrocytosis. |
