abilities in a group of HIV-infected individuals with bipolar disorder
(HIVþ/BDþ) as compared to HIVþ/BD- individuals by utilizing a modified
version of the Medication Management Test (MMT-R). Both groups performed
comparably on the MMT-R. Among all participants, neurocognitive functioning,
current depressive symptoms, and age were significantly correlated with MMT-R
scores. In a multivariate model, neurocognitive ability was the only significant
predictor of MMT-R performance. This indicates that neurocognitive ability is a
strong predictor of medication management ability in HIVþ/BDþ individuals, even
in the context of significant confounding variables (e.g., mood disruption). |
