Publication Abstract Display | Type: Poster | Title: Brief cognitive neurorehabilitation interventions improve memory functioning in HIV-infected adults. | Authors: Woods SP, Weber E, Letendre SL, Grant I, and the HNRP Group | Date: 03-05-2012 | Abstract:Conclusions
Self-generation and mental imagery interventions were both effective in improving memory performance in HIVinfected
adults with clinical episodic memory impairment.
These two experiments demonstrate that brief cognitive rehabilitation methods can improve memory functioning
in the HIV population.
In particular, these intervention techniques are believed to enhance acquisition and retention of memory by
deepening the encoding of information to be recalled.
These findings may inform the development of more comprehensive interventions to improve everyday
functioning outcomes (e.g., cART adherence) and health-related quality of life in HAND. |
