Abstract:Conclusions: Negative social and economic experiences are associated with cortical thinning in brain areas implicated in AD in non-demented African American older adults In cross-sectional analyses, cortical thickness outcomes appear worse for African Americans who report both racial discrimination and low socioeconomic status Future research should examine these potentially bi-directional relationships between long-term stressful experiences and markers of brain health in diverse aging populations with longitudinal socio-environmental, cognitive, biomarker and neuroimaging data.
