| Abstract:"The neuropsychological effects of Human Immunodeficiency Virus in general and AIDS in particular present a difficult challenge to the researcher and clinician. The virus itself is new and its basic mechanisms of action on the central nervous system (CNS) are not understood at this time. The actual brain disease entities caused by the viruses are many and varied. Finally, there is little in the way of predictive information on just which seropositive patients are likely to develop CNS complications and when they are likely to develop such complications over the natural history of the viral infection. |
